I am a highly-skilled, multi-media professional with twenty years’ experience of designing, developing and producing award-winning, educational and interpretative digital resources. I am an excellent communicator, problem-solver, creative-thinker, an advocate of new technologies and an enthusiastic educationalist who is keen to communicate their passion and knowledge of the creative and educational potential of technology with colleagues, stakeholders, and students.

Current: Technical Co-ordinator, School of Communications and Media, Ulster University 2.5 years

As technical co-ordinator, I work with module co-ordinators to develop and deliver teaching resources for BSc Interactive Media and BA, MA Journalism courses that reflect the course curricula and industry requirements. Teaching students to design and develop multi-media resources using Adobe Creative Cloud and HTML, JavaScript and CSS and WordPress. PhD researcher 4 years

I adopted an Educational Design Research approach to investigate the use of technology and digital archives in the classroom, in collaboration with teachers and pupils. I designed, developed and user-tested a digital learning resource, the Partition Portal, that hosted a collection of digitised artefacts curated around Partition topic of the A-level History Curriculum.

Director/Producer, Digital Key Limited 5 years

I established Digital Key to produce innovative, educational, and interpretive digital content, websites and location-based mobile apps for not-for-profit organisations and their audiences. As director, I sourced grants and tendered for contracts, contracted, and commissioned freelance contributors and managed projects within strict timeframes and budgets for: UAHS, CRCNI, NIEA, ABC council, PlaceNI, Heritage Lottery Fund, Arts Council NI, The Communities Foundation.

Content Producer, BBC NI Learning: 6 years

As a Digital Content Producer, I lead a multi-disciplinary team to produce multi-platform digital learning projects ( producing scripts, video, audio, animation, games, apps, and websites) for schools and adults. I initiated an iterative and user-centred approach, conducting research with pupils and teachers in local schools and introduced the use of mobile technology in the department. I co-ordinated both internal and external production and technical teams, appraising, mentoring, and recruiting staff; designing proposals, developing scoping and technical specification documents, budgeting & scheduling.

Interactive UX Designer, BBC NI Education: 6 years

As a designer, I designed, illustrated, and developed websites, games and print material. I championed the use of Adobe Flash and created animations and interactive games for a range of subjects, educational levels, and abilities. I worked with schools and educationalists to develop engaging designs and user-experiences within an appropriate medium for pupils and teachers.
